With Health Watch Hospice, you’ll have a team of professionals by your family’s side including a personal physician, hospice physician, nurse specialists, home health aides, chaplain care, volunteers, homemakers, and companions. For the individual receiving care and those affected, hospice can provide hope, alternatives for physicians, a more traditional/holistic care approach, emotion and spiritual support, bereavement follow-up, pain and symptom management (including medications related to life-limited illness), and medical supplies and equipment.
You are eligible for Hospice if your doctor confirms that you have a limited life expectancy of six months or less and you have chosen comfort care and support rather than curative measures to treat your life-limiting illness.
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances.
Health Watch started in July 1994 out of our home. I was the nurse and my wife did the billing and we had one trusted certified nurse assistant who has since become an RN. We were supported by many people in the medical community that knew me and wanted to support me due to their trust in my medical background. I had worked at UVRMC for 5 years.
Health Watch grew substantially and our staff did as well. We became a large home health agency during this time. We were admitting many Caucasians and some Hispanics patients from the community. In 1999 Medicare came out with PPS and many home health agencies were shutting down, due to financial difficulties. Health Watch tightened our costs and attempted to admit and serve our patients at reduced costs but maintained quality care and tight financial restraints. Health Watch succeeded, being able to maintain the quality of care, for our patients. We started to increase our census once again.
We were able to open Salt lake and Davis counties in 2000. We were able to increase our census and provide care for different ethnic groups. We’re able to give these patients the continuity of care, always the same nurses and certified nurse assistants and Physical Therapist to care for them. In many cases our employees are speaking the languages of our patients, and they are grateful. They’re recovery time has been excellent. They were discharged to the community and not to the hospitals or rehab center, Goals were met, and families were able to continue, to live as they wanted to, independently.
Health watch has been able to keep a high profile in Utah and has been successful. We are a full service home health agency serving the community well.
In January 2020 Health Watch added Hospice Services to better serve our patients and providers.
Health Watch is proud to be a family business. Our staff is excellent, with a very small amount of turnover. We are always aware of the changes that come, through the Medicare and Medicaid rules. Health Watch continually strives to be fiscally responsible and give the care these patients so desperately need.
